Santa Monica Puppetry Center

The Puppetry Center is a theater, museum and workshop devoted to the art of puppetry. The center's signature show, Puppetolio, has been seen by over 35,000 people and is now Los Angeles’ longest running puppet show, playing 6 shows weekly since March, 1998. Puppeteer, Steve Meltzer performs utilizing a variety of puppetry styles including ventriloquism, and marionettes.

Looking for more family-friendly performances? A variety of fun options are available across our fair city, including nearby Magicopolis, the Bob Baker Marionette Theatre (if you just can't get enough puppets) and the Falcon Theater in Burbank, which has an annual roster of great kid's theater.

Tips: Private performances are available for birthdays and other special occasions. For a flat fee, up to 30 children can watch the performance, receive a tour of the museum and have use of the party yard located across the street from the Center. A more elaborate -- and expensive -- package is also available that includes pizza, juice and puppet party favors.
