About
The 20-acres that started it all. Officially a city department, it marks where Los Angeles began, encompassing 27 historic buildings, 4 museums (such as the Chinese American Museum and Italian Hall with it's renown Siqueiros mural--once so controversial the powers that be whitewashed it from view) and it's most famous attraction, Olvera Street.
Olvera Street alone offers four full-service restaurants as well as several smaller eateries. Check out the surrounding traditional Mexican-style plaza as well as the Sepulveda Museum and Avila Adobe. The Avila house and the Sepulveda house were built in 1818 and 1887, respectively, and now display artifacts from old Los Angeles.
