About
If you're one of those people who shoppers trip over as you squat on the floor of bookstores for hours, this is the place for you. Located in the heart of the Sunset Strip shopping and club area for 32 years and counting, every nook and cranny of this trendy shop is filled sometimes to as high as the ceiling. If you're looking for books on art or music, pop culture magazines, gossip-filled celebrity autobiographies or offbeat guides on how to do anything, you could lurk in here endlessly.
L.A. is a book lover's haven. If you're looking for more literary options, try one of these stalwart shops: Bodhi Tree Bookstore has a fine selection of spiritual and metaphysical fiction; Los Feliz's Skylight Books is an excellent general bookshop that is happy to do special orders; A Different Light Bookstore offers a wide array of Gay and Lesbian literature, from books to magazines and beyond.
The only downside to this terrific bookstore is that it's located on the most obnoxious stretch Sunset Blvd. littered as it is with overpriced restaurants, chi-chi boutiques, office towers and almost no parking whatsoever! If you're lucky enough to score a spot on the street, be prepared to shell out an arm and a leg at the parking meter. And heaven forbid you should forget to curb your car's wheels; that's another ticket from the WeHo parking Nazis. But it's even more expensive and annoying to park in one of the strip's handful of pay lots or valet services.
Tips: It's hidden away behind the store, but lucky customers may be able to snag one of the parking spots in Book Soup's pint-sized parking lot, available of a first-come, first-served basis.
