Editor's Note
Dean KuipersWelcome to TheGuide.latimes.com, the new local entertainment resource from the Los Angeles Times. We are creating the site for and with you -- readers who know and care about this wonderfully diverse and sprawling metropolis.
On this site you'll find the freshest information about restaurants, movies, events and many other things to do in your neighborhood (we've got over 200 so far) and around the Southland, with best bets from readers and the staff of the Los Angeles Times. There's a lot more to the site, and we encourage you to click around, discover and contribute. Please note that we have a ways to go before we've finished building it, so what you are about to enter is our beta site. That doesn't mean there isn't plenty to enjoy, just plenty more to look forward to!
To make it the most valuable local resource possible, we encourage you to participate:
- Write reviews
- Create and share lists-from the best walks in Newport Beach to your top ten sushi spots in West Hollywood.
- Get personalized access to your most-viewed neighborhoods based on where you browse
- Stay in the know about openings and top events with our "Best Bets" calendar and a feature called "The Latest”.
- Create your own profile and save your favorite places and things to do-it's as easy as bookmarking.
- Add other users to your favorites and you'll be alerted when a like-minded person writes a review or creates a list.
- Browse Web-exclusive reviews and recommendations from local celebrities, L.A. Times critics and The Guide staff.
TheGuide.latimes.com will eventually replace Calendarlive.com; we are in the process of moving everything from our old site to the new one. You’ll still be able to find the latest national entertainment news covering movies, television, pop music and more in our Entertainment section. In the meantime, we welcome your comments, questions, and ideas along the way. E-mail The Guide staff.
