Katsuya 2

Formerly one of the Valley’s hidden gems, Katsuya 2 remains a gem … just not a hidden one. With more thoughtful décor than most small sushi joints, this popular restaurant offers everything from basic sashimi to elaborate specialty rolls. Popular with the business crowd at lunch and local families in the evening, reservations are encouraged at any time of day (although the sushi bar is first come, first served). Check the dry-erase board that moves quickly from table to table for Katsuya 2’s daily specials, or order from the standard menu. Everyone you talk to will recommend something different, but the most frequently ordered dishes remain the same: spicy tuna on crispy rice, albacore sashimi, and the baked crab roll. There is also chicken and beef teriyaki for the faint of heart, and a $48 seven-course omakase dinner hand-selected by the chef for those who love a tasty surprise.
