Best tacos + tamales in the Southland | Part 1

Know something we don't?
In a city swimming in fish tacos, it’s hard to decide on the best place to cast your net. Senor Fish, located on the corner of 1st and Alameda, is a downtown mainstay. Although they serve staples such as burritos and tostadas, it’s the seafood that has earned the restaurant its deserved reputation. Tacos of every variety are available, but the Ensenada style fish taco is ordered most frequently. Daring diners can try the octopus, shrimp or scallop tacos as well. The reasonable lunch special, consisting of two tacos, rice, beans and drink is hard to beat. Combination plates, which include salad, rice, beans and tortillas, are perfect for heartier appetites. Try the fresh charbroiled fish or the shrimp sautéed in garlic butter. The Senor Fish dining room is low on atmosphere, but the tiled outdoor patio is a pleasant alternative. High brick walls shelter diners from the noisy traffic on Alameda.
