Rocket Pizza may not serve the best pie in Los Angeles, but it does have something else you can count on: Traditional Italian fare in a typical American setting. Located on Fourth Street in the Old Bank District, Rocket features cozy red banquettes, flat screen TVs and a large counter in the back. The only missing items are checkered tablecloths and Chianti bottles. The menu reads like the greatest hits of Italian-American dishes from calzones to eggplant Parmesan to meatball subs. Of course, there are plenty of specialty pizzas too, including the “Rocket Pizza” with scrambled eggs, sautéed mushrooms, green peppers, goat cheese and mozzarella.
