Know something we don't?
Located within the heart of the downtown Los Angeles historic district, Grand Central Market is the culinary center of Broadway. The Market has been serving Angelenos fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, herbs and spices, candy, coffee, flowers and an exotic array of world food since 1917.
Over 38 merchants are crowded into the bustling open-air space. From morning ‘til night, the Market has a lively, urban atmosphere. Hordes of customers rove the fruit and meat stands, searching for the week’s groceries. Strolling the sawdust-padded aisles, a visitor is likely to overhear a dozen different languages. Like Los Angeles itself, Grand Central Market is all about diversity, a fact that is reflected in the exciting array of ethnic foods available. 19 prepared-food vendors serve up hearty helpings of such specialties as Hawaiian barbecue, pupusas, tacos, seafood, pizza and kabobs. A dining court located on the Hill St. side of the market allows customers to stop and enjoy the ambience before returning to the day’s responsibilities.
