Garden Grill

Garden Grill is one of the pricier dining options at Little Tokyo’s New Otani Hotel, but it’s also one of the most exotic. Aptly housed on the hotel’s garden level, Garden Grill is a long dimly lit space arranged around a pair of industrial sized grills. Seating is available grill-side or at booths, although anyone who’s ever eaten at Benihana knows that grill-side is where the action is. Diners with ringside seats watch as chefs in tall white hats slice, dice and cook fresh seafood and meats to order. Floor-to-ceiling picture windows give a tranquil view of the New Otani Garden, replete with a waterfall, full sized trees and a pond lined with closely set stones. For an hour or so, diners can almost forget they’re in the heart of one of L.A.’s busiest areas. Daily lunch and dinner specials consist of an appetizer, salad, vegetables, soup, steamed rice, and a choice of meat.
