The Los Angeles Theatre opened for the 1931 premiere of Charlie Chaplin's "City Lights." The last and most lavish of the movie palaces, it became Fox Studio's leading downtown theater. It ceased operating as a full-time movie theater in 1994; since then, it has housed film shoots, private parties and events such as the Last Remaining Seats film festival.
