Located inside the Southern California Institute for Architecture in downtown L.A., this cutting-edge gallery features exhibitions by some of the leading artists and architecture firms from around the world.
Notable past exhibitions include "Coop Himmelb(l)au: SKY-Arc," "Zaha Hadid Architects and Eric Owen Moss Architects: Adventures in Kazakhstan," "Michael Maltzan Architecture: Dark Side of the Moon" and "Eisenman Architects: Grounded."
Visiting
The entrance to SCI-Arc's parking lot is at 350 Merrick Street, between Traction Ave. and 4th St. in downtown L.A. Additional parking is available at Joe's Parking at 3rd St. and Traction.
Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. everyday.
Dining and entertainment
Despite being located in industrial downtown, the gallery is near several upscale restaurants.
R-23 offers sushi and other Japanese cuisine in a chic environment. Café Metropol serves up sanwiches, salads and coffee, and is ideal for lunch. East Third Steakhouse & Lounge is a trendy and loud restaurant whose menu has everything from filet mignon to rib-eye steak.
