About
Director Madla Hruza stresses that this 8,000-square-foot space in the heart of downtown is a "museum of artS, not art." Based on her programming choices, that's an easy statement to accept. MADLA openings are interesting, eclectic affairs that combine dance, theater, music, and contemporary art. The exhibitions contain thought-provoking, often spiritual or political overtones. Past titles include, "Love, Hate, and the Absence of Either," "Icons Within the Mind," "Sense and Sensuality," and "The Still, Small Voice of Conscience--World Artists for Tibet."
MADLA--the museum's acronym, not the director's name--is a non-profit organization that sponsors programs for kids and seniors.
