Times Description

Experimental, punk, art-music and a gallery make this storefront downtown's successor to the late, great Al's Bar. Always all ages, always no alcohol, and always dirt cheap to get in, it's since taken the lead as home to the most exciting collection of noise-punk bands the city's seen in years (Sasha Frere-Jones of the New Yorker agreed, profiling the scene and making many local hipster heads explode). Vegan munchies are usually sold at the counter, but Warung, Pete's and the myriad Little Tokyo ramen hovels provide nourishment while Bar 107 and La Cita sling the sauce once the straight-edge X's wear off your hands. Parking is like everywhere downtown: find a side street meter or throw down for a guarded pay lot (Times employees get to park in the nearby Times lot, 'cause that's how we roll).
