Know something we don't?
Known officially as the Richard J. Riordan Central Library, the central branch of the Los Angeles Public Library sponsors several ongoing lecture series, author readings and book presentations. The annual "Racing Toward the Millennium: Voices from the American West" is a literary series co-presented by the Museum of Contemporary Art. "Let's Do Lunch" is a free series of author talks, held several Thursdays a month at 12:15 p.m. at the library. Attendees can bring a lunch and listen to newly published Californian authors talk about their book and how they got published.
Other special stand-alone literary events and readings -- including many presented by ALOUD -- are held throughout the year at this branch. At most library events, copies of the featured books are available for signing, with proceeds benefiting the library. Admission varies but is usually free.
