WeHo's hottest bars
West Hollywood may be best-known for its sizeable gay community, but the city is equally known for its sizzling nightlife scene. From the Sunset Strip to Santa Monica's Blvd.'s increasingly hot bar crawl (between La Cienega and La Brea), WeHo is where it's at for the discriminating drinker. Here are a few of our favorites.
Sure the Standard may have seen better days, but the restaurant and adjacent "secret" bar behind it, the Purple Lounge, remains a powerful lure to those seeking a true L.A. "night out" on the town.
Don't take Rage for granted; the popular gay hotspot is still a magnet for tourists around the world. A warning; Rage can get very crowded on weekends, so get there early, find your fun, and leave with him.
The fact that Winston's remains popular after Britney has been seen here dozens of times is testament to its staying power. Exposed brick walls and dark, cozy seating options make Winston’s as close to a New York City lounge as L.A. will probably ever get.
This bustling hot spot pays homage to its WeHo location with Soviet-inspired design. Cocktail waitresses here are decked out in Pravda red, and 1930s posters hang next to mirrors etched with Cyrillic to flesh out the Soviet chic concept.
This New York City transplant brings sleek lounge dining to the Sunset Strip. The dark, warm environs inside make One Sunset one of the most sophisticated offerings on the strip.
Situated on a corner space in the middle of Boys Town, Eleven is an upscale option for those who want a break from WeHo’s raucous party scene.
What can you say about the Abbey that hasn't been said already? This popular destination, with its spacious patio and famed cocktails keep celebrities like Forest Whitaker coming back year after year.
Formerly the rocker-packed Whiskey Bar, Bar 1200 inside the Sunset Marquis Hotel still goes off on weekends with a slightly older, more moneyed crowd. The eye candy still pops here; even if it's ad industry execs instead of guitar players.
You almost don't have to go to Hyde anymore, thanks to TMZ. But you really should go, as the scene inside can get more outrageous than what you see on the street. If you can get in (or afford the drink prices), that is.
