Know something we don't?
Frida’s owners say the origins of the restaurant can be traced back to the central valley of Mexico, where Frida’s founder was raised and learned about the spices and sauces used in traditional Mexican cuisine. When he moved to L.A. he made up for what he thought was a lack of authentic Mexican food by opening his flagship restaurant in the heart of Beverly Hills.
People seemed to love the food and the warm, colorful and folksy atmosphere so the owner opened several more locations: First there was Frida Taqueria at the Brentwood County Mart, which was built to resemble a typical taqueria and serves the same type of food as the flagship restaurant. Then came a branch at the mega-mall Americana at Brand in Glendale. This fall a new Frida will open in L.A. Live by the Staples Center.
