SoCal's most romantic bars

Know something we don't?
This bar atop the swank Thompson Beverly Hills Hotel is already bringing a much-needed dose of New York hip to the area. If hotelier Jason Pomeranc's Manhattan hotel bars are any example, expect the poolside bar with multiple cabanas and areas to schmooze to stay very exclusive. His A60 bar in atop 60 Thompson in SoHo is technically open to hotel guests and VIPs only, although the rules have loosened up a bit, lately, but only after years of being one of Manhattan's hottest hidden gems.
ABH (which stands for Above Beverly Hills) boasts unrivaled views, Dodd Mitchell design (lots of streamlined woodwork) and a massive palm tree that had to be airlifted via crane to the rooftop space. ABH debuted in June to hotel guests (you'll need to be staying at the hotel to get in; or at least be a friend of someone on staff at the hotel), and has held a few private events for clients such as Gucci.
Our advice? Either head to the rooftop deck in the afternoon and stay awhile before guest list minders post themselves at the elevators, or get a room. It's the best way to ensure access to ABH, and the rooms are fantastic anyway at the Thompson. Not to mention it beats a DUI if you just happen to drink a few too many of the bar's lavish cocktails (yes, they have mojitos, people).
Other drinks available at ABH include signature cocktails such as their "ABH" (Grey Goose, muddled lime, sugar, club soda), multiple sakes, fresh kiwi soda, and a decent selection of imported Japanese beers.
Food is also served at ABH, mostly from the hotel's ground floor Bond St. restaurant (think sushi).

This was the most pretentious and douchetastic place I've ever been to in my life. I try to avoid Beverly Hills like the plague but out-of-town guests...

This review is for the lounge on the roof of the Thompson - not the hotel itself as I've never stayed there. With that said, WOW! This one of those places...
