Times Description

Named after a section in lower Manhattan, this small, narrow bar and bistro caters to upscale Hollywood hipsters who can appreciate a delicious $12 burger with the works. And what a burger it is: perfectly grilled sirloin on a toasted English muffin with grilled onions, sautéed mushrooms, bacon and cheese. Other offerings range from upgraded versions of American classics (French dips made with chicken breast and steak sandwiches) to downgraded versions of European classics (moulle frites and charcuterie platters). Inside, tiled walls evoking the New York City subway are softened by subdued lighting and the coziness of the space. Created by owner George Abou-Daoud as a New York-style bar and bistro in Los Angeles, Bowery resides in the small corridor of eateries on Sunset that includes Fabiolus Café and Magnolia.

TIP: There's not a huge menu, but the good selection of cognac and single malts makes up for it.

This was mostly a lack luster burger. They give you a lot of toppings to choose from but that's all irrelevant since the only thing you can taste on the...
