A Hollywood classic since it opened in 1927, Pig 'N Whistle underwent refurbishment in 1999 after being acquired by Cabana Club owners Chris Breed and Alan Hajjar. The landmark venue hosted the first Oscars after-party way back when and the decor remains vintage classic: high ceilings, dark wood beams and stained glass windows surround the restaurant's leather booths. The lunch and dinner menus by Executive Chef Emilio Molino serve up classic American like burgers and Cobb salad with a dash of British pub fare like fish and chips. The events held at the Pig 'N Whistle, however, cater to a modern crowd. Monday hosts trivia with live music in the back room, along with open mic nights - many of which showcase students from the neighboring Musicians Institute. Wednesday nights are reserved for karaoke, while weekends bring in DJs spinning hip-hop and Top 40. Located close to the Egyptian, Chinese and El Capitan theaters, Pig 'N Whistle is also a favorite pre- or post-movie eatery with an extensive bar.
