Located directly adjacent to the Pantages Theater, Bob's Frolic Room is a Hollywood landmark. Formerly Freddy's Frolic Room, Bob's opened in its place shortly after the repeal of Prohibition. The Room is a narrow, dimly lit Tinsel Town relic that has seemingly been untouched by time. Even the modern additions of a CD jukebox and two satellite TVs stand like anachronistic props within a classic black-and-white film noir set. Further evoking the ambience of yesteryear is a vintage '40s-style mural of caricatured cinematic legends, but it's doubtful any of these celebrities ever spent much time here--the Frolic Room was (and still is) more for the hard-boiled Hollywood types. These days, the clientele runs the gamut from rock 'n' rollers to local neighborhood barflies. Remaining constant throughout the years, though, are the Pantages and Palace patrons who dash in and gulp down a cocktail or two before the show.
