Run by artists for artists and festooned with art, Mandrake is the place to decamp and sip spicy Moscow Mules after nearby gallery openings wind down. There’s a Raymond Pettibon by the john, curated shows hanging in the back room, and experimental DJs warding off the evil spirits of commercial acceptance. It’s cozy up front, with smart tree-ring tables and clever lighting, but most of the action centers around the bougainvillea-draped back smoking patio.
