Don’t let the dark streets scare you, there is a light at the end of the tunnel -- Zip Fusion’s neon sign, that is. Located on a seemingly abandoned one-way-street in the Arts District, Zip can be a challenge to find, but it all seems worthwhile once you are seated on the restaurant’s hidden back patio amidst lush bougainvillea vines. Zip defines the term “Asian fusion joint” with offerings from traditional sushi and sashimi to unconventional rolls, such as the “Whiskey and Soda Back Roll,” the “Shrimp Mania Roll” and the provocatively named “Evolution Roll.” While the sushi may not rival its Little Tokyo counterparts, Zip’s seaweed salad is reason enough to brave the deserted city streets.
