Once one of the tightest doors in L.A., Skybar remains a popular destination for an outdoor cocktail thanks to its sweeping views of the city. By day, it serves up bikinied eye candy as the models and glitterati staying at the attached Mondrian Hotel preen by its pool. By night, a doorman clutching a clipboard stands guard at the entrance, carefully choosing the toned bodies – maybe still in those bikinis – that will lie on the bar’s poolside beds. While an outdoor bar is available, people often stuff into the “outdoor living room,” a raised cabana with its own bar and couches. For those who don’t want to deal with guest lists and velvet ropes, get there before 8 p.m. or make a reservation at adjoining restaurant Asia de Cuba.
