You don’t have to be British to appreciate Shag’s full potential. After a short tenure as the club Concorde, L.A. nightlife maven Shereen Arazm purchased the space, renamed it and added some luxe fixtures like crystal and glass chandeliers, Missoni-inspired banquettes and velvet upholstery. The sexy redo worked; it’s enticed Scarlett Johansson, Rachel Bilson and Nicole Richie to dance on said banquettes. While Hollywood scenesters have moved on to newer digs for their table dancing, Shag still pulls in a decent crowd.
But lately, the crowds at Shag have been less than well-behavied. For example, notorious rap impressario Suge Knight was involved in a bloody brawl outside of the Cahuenga Ave. bar Saturday, May 10.
