Despite its strong and well-earned reputation for tolerance, Venice really only has one gay bar. That bar is the Roosterfish and it has been an institution on Abbot Kinney Blvd. for 25 years. There is a special on virtually every day of the week, like Cape Cod Sundays ($3 Cape Cods) and Gold Margarita Wednesdays ($3). The highlight of every week, though, is the You Can’t Beat Our Meat Sundays, when a full-on barbecue is thrown on the back patio and you can get a hot-off-the-grill burger for only $3. The crowd is very local and extremely friendly, ranging in age from 18 to 58. There’s also plenty of ways to while away your days with a pool table, video games, darts and the aforementioned back patio where everyone congregates when it’s just a little bit warm. If you’re tired of West Hollywood Attitude, go to the Roosterfish where it’s laid-back all the time.
