Old school meets the Wild West at Perqs, a classic drinking establishment. There’s no food, no blender for frou-frou drinks and no clever lighting over the dance floor. Loyal fans come to drink basic, straight cocktails in a 100-year-old building that was reputedly a brothel back in the day. Thursdays are open jams and rock cover bands perform on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s one of the few downtown HB venues with an actual dance floor. The entertainment is a “perk” for Perqs, but the traditional, unfussy ambience speaks for itself. You could almost call it a dive bar, but the original brick gives it class and the surfboard decorations remind you that this isn’t the set of “Cheers.”
