Molly Malone's has been the stray Irish Rovers' pub of choice for more than 30 years in Los Angeles. Molly's is rivaled only by neighboring
Tom Bergin's as the place to be for the wearing of the green. Both have diehard fans, but Molly's is the more contemporary of the two. There's usually a de facto cover charge (due to a steady rotation of live music) just to drink at the main bar, and the low-priced fare is solid Eire and just what you'd expect -- but there's a lot you might not expect, such as T-bone steaks or even tacos. They're better known for their libations (especially the Irish Coffee), and for practically any draught you'd hope for. It's a beer lovers' bar; a local favorite with a dark, old-fashioned interior that attracts the neighbors en masse. If you need grub with a bit more spice, try
Mani's for excellent soups and desserts, or
Lola's for a classy gourmet martini after getting your tin flute on.
