Good Luck Bar

Situated next to a janitorial supply company, it’s easy to miss the Good Luck, and if you didn’t know what you were looking for at the intersection of Sunset, Hollywood and Hillhurst, you might pass right on by. But the initiated enter underneath the neon “Good” sign and find themselves in a small, dark bar that can be described as seedy Chinese noir, with dramatic red-papered walls, glowing lanterns and dim candles illuminating the tables. From the same owner of El Carmen and Bar Lubitsch, Good Luck achieves that rare quality of being at once warm and convivial and coolly indifferent. To be sure, the Good Luck Bar is not a place to be “seen,” but the scene is fun and lively and full of character. Catering to east-side creative types – musicians, artists, assorted hipsters and the people who love them – it fills up on the weekends, so go early to get a seat at the large circular bar and see if you can happen upon some good luck of your own.
