As with everything at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, the Gallery Bar and Cognac Room is the epitome of old-school class. Dim lighting provides a romantic atmosphere where waiters in black vests and bow ties polish the long marble bar. Carved angels gaze down from the vaulted ceilings. Comfortable couches and low-slung tables populate the rear of the room, where live jazz bands set up on Friday and Saturday nights. There is no food service at the Gallery bar, but the selection of liqueurs, wines and cocktails is superb. The popular Black Dahlia martini, named after one of L.A.’s most famous murder victims, is the signature drink here, a heady mixture of Chambord and Kahlua topped with a twist of orange.
