A spin-off of the Pasadena original, the second Bodega Wine Bar appears to be the kind of watering hole that Carrie Bradshaw and her “Sex and the City” comrades would have visited had they lived in Santa Monica instead of New York: It’s a trendy, candle-lit, singles-friendly spot with DJs on the weekend and thoroughly modern furnishings superimposed on a wood and brick frame. It diverges from the HBO series’ manual, however, where purse and pocket book meet: The one-page food menu, heavy on Panini, pizza, salad, crackers and cheese, features $8 to $13 items, and the Trader Joe’s-style wines (adequate for just about everyone but the connoisseur) are all the same price: $8 for a glass, $20 for a carafe and $30 for a bottle. There’s also an assortment of moderately priced beer, champagne and sake, but the cocktails are soju-only. The especially budget-conscious should visit Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Sundays, when (respectively!) bottles of wine are $20, canned Modelos are $2 and sake shots are a buck.
