Sure, the place is full of scenesters--but so many kinds of scenesters: rockabilly babes, edgy artists, local musicians and actors, all in the twenty- to thirtysomething range. It's not a meat market, though, so those who ain't got game would be better off hitting the usual suspects, i.e., Hollywood's numerous dance floors.
Amid the additions of the York, the Griffin or any number of the new east-of-the-eastside hipster bars it's easy to forget about the Bigfoot Lodge and its kitschy woodland vibe, one of the first places to put Atwater Village on the map beyond divey curiosities like the Roost. Though the Smoky sculpture may be getting on in years, the Bigfoot is still a warm place to grab a drink for those who don't care to brave the crowds of Silver Lake or Hollywood, and the noise level at its peak proves its standing hasn't diminished.
