Club-goers were disappointed when Hollywood and Vine hotspot Deep closed in 2005. Thankfully, its successor Basque retained Deep’s most beloved feature: the go-go dancers that writhed behind the peep show mirrors above the bar (the feature is also immortalized in a scene in Ocean’s Eleven). Owners Brad and Dave Weida revamped the décor by adding ornate wallpaper, chandeliers and a spiffed-up front patio area. Private rooms are available through a back hallway, which is an alternate route to the back of the club when the main walkway gets crowded. Lines often form during weekend club nights, so call for guest list info or arrive early. The bar, located at 1707 N. Vine St., was actually once a famed Brown Derby location.
UPDATE: Basque suffered major fire damage during the early morning hours of April 30, 2008, and is likely closed until (at least) this winter. We will keep you posted. For the full story on the blaze and pictures, go here.
