About
This is a new bar-restaurant with some currency: a location in the burgeoning North Hollywood Arts District, an imposing edifice in an 81-year-old former bank building, and a little dance-music cachet -- Ken Jordan of the Crystal Method is a minority owner. The club, Heist, takes up two floors, with a handsome restaurant, Bank, on the first floor facing Lankershim. It's a good bet on weeknights, as crowds are friendly and the club is not too crowded. Weekends are busier and tend to attract a more mainstream crowd. Thursday nights play host to NoHo Massive, a house-electro-breaks music club upstairs.
A major fire hit Bank Heist Jan. 7, burning a third of the bar, mostly upstairs. As a result, the space is currently closed. "It could have been a lot worse," says co-owner Kat Johnson. Look for Bank Heist's grand re-opening in May.
