Located in the former Le Porcini Ristorante space, Bacaro LA is a new wine bar in a neighborhood not known for upscale merlots. The North University Park/West Adams wine bar, opened by former A.O.C sommelier Santos Uy (along with partner Danny Kronfli) also serves small plates with their upscale selections of wine. Expect a number of different of panini sandwiches, squid dishes, marinated artichokes and the ubiquitous "cheese plate" at Bacaro. But the focus at this welcome new spot, near USC and just blocks from the 10 freeway, will be mostly on wines from around the world; with an emphasis on "adventurous" Italian varietals. The small, narrow bar, which has a rustic feel (wood tables and handmade wooden chairs) and chalkboard walls, opened Saturday, April 5. A patio in the back is forthcoming later this year.

I Went to the soft opening last night and if this is a small representation of what to expect I am thrilled!!
