With booths like stretch limos and candlelit tables for two, B.B. King’s recreates the luxury and romance of a Southern supper club. It’s anything but a hole-in-the-wall joint, yet the design of the three-floor space manages to retain a good deal of intimacy between the bands and the crowd. Nightly live performances are a jambalaya of musical styles from jazz and blues to R&B, soul, funk, rock, and a little bit of country. Local radio stations Indie 103.1 and 94.7 The Wave host regular weekly bands, and B.B. himself graces the stage on all-blues nights. Throughout the performances, Creole and soul food favorites like fried catfish, BBQ ribs, and jambalaya are served with sides like fried okra, collards, and mac & cheese. Work off a little of that rich meal on the patch of floor by the stage reserved for spontaneous dancing.
