Know something we don't?
Update: As of late summer/early fall 2008, Crash Mansion is closed. Although owners had hoped to reopen the club, Crash Mansion has had a suspended liquor license for months. The phone is currently disconnected and a Board of Equalization tax hold is in place (they owe back taxes to the state of California). At least two contractors have reported not being paid for services rendered at the club. No events are booked at the club this fall, according to their (still live) website. The Guide will keep you posted if the status of the club changes, or if anything new goes into the space.
Crash Mansion is something of an anomaly downtown. The massive, raw space feels like a warehouse, but boasts a state-of-the-art sound system. The main booker from the Key Club was brought on in late 2007 and promises to lure big-name acts to the venue in 2008. Although the 14,000-square-foot club has arguably changed the face of downtown nightlife by attracting big-time bands and DJs to a formerly dead stretch of Grand, it has not been without major hiccups.
A clubgoer was shot to death here just outside the venue (stemming from a fight that first started inside Crash Mansion) in early 2008, and in July of 2008 Crash Mansion temporarily lost its liquor licence.

This place blows about as much as any place could. They have no idea how to run a concert venue. The security here is incredibly dumb and unprofessional....

Wow, what a dump! The whole time I was there I could only think that the place was going to go up in flames. It felt like a serious fire trap! This is also...
