Bar Delux is a glimmering slice of Art Deco heaven with striking chandeliers and a massive emerald stained-glass mural that features a large blimp, airplanes, buildings and rows of smokestacks. But what the ladies might be talking about at the Kris Keith-designed lounge (he previously designed Goa) is the glamorous, red womb-like bathroom upstairs, which looks straight out of the 1920s. Check out the regal fireplace in the center of the bar, and be sure to dress up... this is not the adjacent Beauty Bar.
The Foundry's Eric Greenspan designed the menu with light bites such as ahi tuna sandwiches and a snapper ceviche. Drinks at Bar Delux include several variations on the Cosmopolitan as well as specialty offerings such as the Pom Noir (soda water, liquefied ginger and Johnnie Walker Black) and the Basilberry (vodka, strawberries and basil).
The bar is only open Thursday through Sundays, so plan accordingly (Thursday evenings are also very difficult to get into due to the Alliance handling the door, so your best bet is Friday or Saturday here).
