24K Lounge

About

Formerly Seven, 24k is billing itself as "Hollywood's newest Ultra Lounge."  24k retains at least some of Seven's past, most notably in the form of co-owner Noah Silverman, who remains a force behind the sexy lounge.  Silverman has brought in well-connected partners (including Shoestring Entertainment and actor Jackson Rathbone), and a new design scheme.  The new-look space is awash in gold paint (get it? 24k?), swank dark furniture and walnut accents.

What remains is 7929's fantastic layout.  Although the bar is small, there are two smoking patios (the back patio will have a "zen garden feel," per owners), and multiple seating areas that feel like private VIP lounges.  The dance floor may be small here, but the sound system is excellent; providing clubbers an intimate experience that is lost at analogous venues such as Area.

Expect crowds at 24k to range from "industry" types hosting launch parties, to well-dressed neighborhood hipsters simply out for a night of flirting and drinking.  The vibe here is friendly and laid-back, despite the menacing-looking bouncers (they are actually nice) and velvet rope in front of the bar.  Owners are touting their service, which they say will be "more like what you would expect in a fine European restaurant or hotel," according to a press release.

Although 24k was once the gay lounge iCandy, expect the new bar to walk a straight and stylish path well into 2009.  Not that gay crowds won't be welcome here at all times...24k wants everyone to feel "golden" after a Goldschlager (or three) at this re-vamped destination.

Or for the high rollers, try the $100 "Gold" martini.  Seriously. 24k has one for sale. What's in it? Hennessy Paradis, Grand Marnier centenaire, fresh lime juice, agave syrup, champagne, fresh mint and real gold leaf.
