Know something we don't?
Right next door to its namesake restaurant, Club Tee Yee is nestled among the burgeoning businesses supported by hipster Eastsiders, including the Beastie Boys' Grand Royal headquarters and the fabulous Out-of-the-Closet Thrift Store. This is one of those bars that will delight you by its anonymous "Hmm, we'll have to go there sometime" exterior and cozy "Wow, we should have come sooner!" interior.
The dark paneled walls with no windows, but a perpetually open back door, glittery ceiling and leatherette booths are perfect for casual drinks and socializing. The CD jukebox offers a fine selection that includes Patsy Cline. Need we say more?
The working class locals who populate this establishment are friendly, and they have a jukebox pool where everyone contributes and then take turns making the selections. There's no happy hour, but the drinks are cheap. Enjoy them before the low- key "oh-so-cool" people take over and the margaritas go up to six bucks. -- Elisabeth Belile
