About
This is a contemporary gallery with a real sense of humor. An early show, "Calivera Kustom," featured underground art from rock 'n' roll illustrators Frank Kozik and Coop, plus stuff by Robert Williams and Mark Ryden. Corrugated cardboard, Day of the Dead skulls, and an auto body part were all included in the expo, as was Sandow Birk's chiaroscuro painting of Jesus Christ as a middle-aged bald guy at a ballpark, struggling with his concessions.
Merry K's been open since the middle of 1997, and is dedicated to exhibiting emerging as well as established artists. Other shows have included Camille Rose Garcia, Todd and Kathy Schorr, Erik Brunetti and Kent Williams.
