Pace Wildenstein

The New York stalwart gallery comes west in a further sign of Los Angeles' cultural coming of age. An instant heavy in the local market, Pace Wildenstein picked a Beverly Hills golden triangle address for their space. Exhibitions are generally of art world all-stars; a random peek at the listings in early 1998 showed a Julian Schnabel portrait show and a group photography expo featuring Robert Rauschenberg, Man Ray, Alred Stiegletz, Chuck Close, Andy Warhol, and Ed Westen. 1999 saw a survey of works on paper by Alfred Jensen which one critic labeled "dazzling," and "one of the season's best shows." -- Jeremy Rosenberg
