Milagros Nest Gallery

One of the newer and finer art galleries in Ojai opened up last year with a bang, serving as a local outlet for the work of such Ojai legends as Otto Heino and the late ceramist Beatrice Wood. Their work, celebrated far beyond Ventura County, has all too often been seen only in their own showrooms or in larger metropolitan galleries. Thankfully, the Nest is now a third, local option.

The gallery is tucked into a complex next to Libbey Park. The art is packed in, making the place seem like a larger operation than it actually is.

While painting and other two-dimensional media can be found on the walls, pottery is a specialty here. Besides Heino and Wood, other local artists represented include Heather Young and Nanci Martinez. The gallery has also brought in work by an array of impressive artists from Los Angeles and elsewhere, making it a gallery with a more expansive purview than other, locally-oriented spaces.
