About
The gallery's owners, sisters Teresa and Ana Iturralde, have been in the contemporary Latin American art business since 1987 and in L.A. since 1991. They take chances, talk to strangers and tend to put on first-class, large-scale shows.
A 1998 highlight was the non-commercial installation art of the Cuban collective, Los Carpinteros. Other artists featured here include Arnaldo Roche, Javier Marin, Joaquim Torres-Garcia and Raul Cordero. Torres-Garcia's a recently rediscovered Uruguayan constructivist. Cordero's a Cuban whose American debut, "Quiz Paintings," was a snappy Warhol-meets-Fidel satire.
