About
Located in a former warehouse redesigned by Frank Gehry, the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA is an idiosyncratic and innovative museum that has featured the works of some of the most popular and cutting-edge artists of the present.
The museum's interior comprises of steel columns, trusses, beams and skylights, providing a stylishly unfinished ambiance for the gallery spaces.
In 1995, the museum received a $5 million gift from The David Geffen Foundation. In recognition of this gift, the museum (then known as MOCA at the Temporary Contemporary) was re-named the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.
Notable past shows include "@Murakami," "Wack! Art and the Feminist Revolution," "Juan Munoz" and "What's Shakin': New Architecture in L.A."
