About
Gallery 825 has been the vanguard non-profit organization for emerging artists in California for more than 80 years. The organization boasts such alumni as Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, Lita Albuquerque and Tim Hawkinson, and maintains a bench of 250 active, emerging artists who show in its professional-grade gallery space in group and solo shows.
LAAA/Gallery 825 partners with local and national curators on exhibitions, giving local artists a chance to be discovered by the people who help shape public (and lucrative corporate) taste. LAAA also provides myriad other services to local artists, including ongoing artist workshops, a slide registry, portfolio reviews by gallerists and curators, a lecture series and more.
The gallery is located in the heart of West Hollywood at 825 N. La Cienega Blvd., just south of Santa Monica Blvd. Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood but take care not to leave your car in permit-only zones, which are rife in this part of the city.
Dining and entertainment
There are plenty of dining options in the area, all within walking distance of the gallery. The Spanish Kitchen, despite its name, serves upscale Mexican cuisine and features a full bar. Stone Fire Pizza is a family-friendly but still trendy spot for eat-in or take-out. And Mark's Restaurant offers an eclectic menu that includes steaks, salads, sandwiches and breakfast food.
