About

The Gagosian Gallery is a Mount Olympus of the Los Angeles art world. Its beautiful rooms and well-lit exhibition spaces were designed by architect Richard M. Meier, the man responsible for the Getty Center. And here, the artists represented by director Larry Gagosian are among the gods of the contemporary art world.

This is the place where Chris Burden can unleash his imagination. Amazing and important Warhols are always available. This is where Damien Hirst chooses to shock and seduce us. Sculptors Robert Graham and Richard Serra, and painters Cy Twombly, Ross Bleckner and David Salle all strut their stuff here. And there's more.

Genuflect before you enter this hallowed hall; shows tend toward the titanic. Directors Robert Shapazian and Candy Coleman are a dynamic duo. The Gagosian Gallery is considered about as good as it gets.

Visiting

The gallery is located at the westbound intersection of Camden Dr. and Santa Monica Blvd. in Beverly Hills. Free one-hour parking is available in the two structures near the gallery.

Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. Admission is always free.

Dining and entertainment

There's a range of dining options all within a short walk or drive from the gallery.

Le Pain Quotidien is a no-fuss, no-frills lunch spot with an impressive offering of French-style sandwiches, salads, soups and desserts. Also nearby, the popular Frankie & Johnnie's serves up thin crust New York-style pizza. You can eat-in or do take-out. For dinner, Crustacean offers upscale Vietnamese fusion cuisine in a luxurious setting.  Massimo is a high-end Italian restaurant from star chef Massimo Ormani that serves moderately priced to expensive cuisine.
