Just a short drive west from Bergamot Station, the Christopher Grimes Gallery offers a quiet, steady side of the Southern California sensibility. Artists exhibited here also reflect the cool, quiet intensity of Christopher Grimes himself, a man know for high standards, ethics, and care for his artists.
Grimes represents Fred Tomaselli, an artist who uses illicit and illegal drugs to form abstractions (literally -- they're incorporated into the pieces). Jacci Den Hartog is an artist who creates complex sculptures; Georganne Deen paints from deep within her troubled childhood; Lisa Yuskavage is known for her horrific eroticism. On the lighter side, there is painter Megan Williams, precise woodworker Julian Goldwhite, and the grin-inducing conceptual work of Tony Tasset.
