About

Director Jerome Adamson Jr. greets visitors to his large, buzz-me-in gallery with a huge grin, mod glasses, and an obvious zest for his vocation.

The great majority of the A-D collection are 19th-century American and European academic-style paintings. Artists and examples abound from the Hudson River, Luminist, Plein Aire and Western schools. Also prevalent is Copley Blue, the custom paint color that Adamson named after Boston's famed John Singleton. Copley Blue is on Adamson's walls, in his exhibit catalogs and, we're guessing, in his veins too.

The complete list of individual artists represented here goes on and on, but a choice selection includes Ernest Blumschein, Edgar Payne, Maurice Utrillo and the more contemporary Herb Kornfield.

Prices for miniatures can be as low as $2,000. As for the high range, add a few more digits. Bring quarters for the San Vicente parking meters.

By the way, there's a working fireplace for those cold winter days. -- Jeremy Rosenberg
