Crane Sushi

Variety more than quality is the spice of life at Crane Sushi, which serves a wide range of California-style sushi such as the Dynamite Roll (baked scallops, onions and mushrooms in dynamite sauce), the Rattlesnake Roll (rolled tempura, shrimp and cucumber topped with baked freshwater eel), the Crazy Boy Roll (a deep-fried California roll topped with eel sauce). A signature dish is Coca Cola Lamb Chops, which are marinated in a blend of Coke and citrus juices. There's also the Firecracker Jack, jumbo freshwater prawns stuffed with assorted seafood and baked with mayonnaise and capeline roe. If the traditional shabu shabu beef isn't good enough for you, try it with Kobe or Angus beef, and perhaps wash it down with a Bud Light, which costs only $0.99 every day after 9 p.m.. The late-night combo specials beginning at 9 p.m. are a good choice for famished clubgoers. These include the house special roll and a bowl of udon noodles combo for $8.99. Traditional Japanese fare like bento boxes, teriyaki, gyoza, and tempura are also available. Tempting appetizers include baked green mussels, oysters on the half shell, tempura calamari and the Creamy Devil, fried spicy tuna with cream cheese and jalapeno. The décor, which features a faux rock wall and a fountain in the entryway as well as individual thatched canopies above each table, is also worth mentioning.
