William H. Macy's Favorite Weekend

William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman make quite the starry couple, but as Bill tells it, they're just plain old Hollywood Hills folks, with two daughters and a dog named Tucker.

"We love entertaining and having game nights at our house,"  Macy says. "Running Charades is the game of choice right now, and there's a group that plays that has gotten quite vicious over the years."

Their careers keep them busy too. Huffman has her hit ABC series "Desperate Housewives" and Macy (on Broadway in "Speed-the-Plow") has a DVD out this week called "The Deal."

"It's a romantic comedy with me and Meg Ryan, and I wrote it with my friend Steven Schachter,"  Macy says. "We did it with the template of a '30s romantic screwball comedy, and people said they liked the chemistry between us. She is magnificent in it."  Here is his ideal weekend:

1. The Roosevelt Hotel   Hollywood

If I want a taste of old Hollywood on a Friday, I go to the Roosevelt Hotel. I have drinks and a lot of meetings there, and it's about as old Hollywood as you can get. It's so dark in there you can't see your wristwatch. I love that place.

2. Dominick's   West Hollywood

Felicity and I also like Dominick's on Beverly. It's old-school Italian; the Rat Pack used to hang out there. There's a fireplace and a patio, great cocktails, very romantic. We love the artichoke and risotto balls, and the meatball sandwiches are great.

3. 101 Coffee Shop   Hollywood

If Georgia doesn't make breakfast for us, the girls and I may just have a papa outing. We like Cafe 101, with all the tragically hip writers. I get an omelet and a latte, and the girls get pancakes, eggs and fresh fruit, and we'll get a side of bacon. Sometimes the girls complain that the music's too loud. There's an astounding number of kids -- but hip kids, you see.

4. Comme Ça   West Hollywood

Another brunch that we love is Comme Ca on Melrose, which is quite cool. It's more mellow than the 101 but still hip and trendy. It hasn't been open long. They've got a killer ham and Gruyre omelet. I love California architecture, and it's got that going for it too.

5. Miceli's   Universal City

To cap off the weekend, the girls love Miceli's. They have a piano player, and the waiters and waitresses sing. My girls think it's the height of haute cuisine. They put on dresses and fancy shoes, and they're starting to request makeup. And they request songs, and they'll come sing right at our table. And then you get these monstrous dishes of pasta. For dessert, they'll get these gigantor chocolate-chip cookies with ice cream. They have little hand trucks to carry you out to the parking lot.
